Description

Kumari Apoorva Krishna Violin Solo
Sri S.G.Balakrishna Mridangam
Sri Ramesh Iyer Ghatam

Most notable in the youth series was the flawless, chaste violin concert by child artist Apoorva Krishna. All of 13 years old, Apoorva mesmerised the audience with a remarkably clear bowing technique that sweetened her neat, concise and perfect presentation of the various kritis. Starting with a varnam in Charukeshi- a composition of Lalgudi Jayaraman- , Apoorva made striking renditions of Malayamarutham and Kamboji, before delving into a detailed presentation of Ninne Nammithi in Simhendra Madhyamam. Alapana and swara prastharas were brief but sharp and accurate. Enna Tavam Seythanai in Kapi and the Kanada raga thillana towards the end were also impressive. Accompanying her were also young artists Sri.Balakrishna (disciple of Srimushnam Raja Rao) who showed high maturity and understanding on mridangam and Sri. Ramesh Iyer on the Ghatam.
