Description

Kumari Lavanya Vocal
Sri Vittala Rangan Violin
Sri B.S.Anand Mridangam

Kumari Lavanya, another teenager, presented the second concert of the festival. Rich in manodharma and fearless in making sweeping alapanas and swaraprastharas Lavanya's presentation made a lasting impression on the audience. Starting with the Kanada adi tala varnam- Neranammi, she passed through good Hamsadwani, including swaram and sub main Jnanamosagaraada in Poorvikalyani, including alapana and neraval, and landed on her main Bilahari composition Dorakuna where she showed her excellent virtuosity. Concluding pieces were a Purandaradasa Kapi composition, Kagada Bandide and a meera bhajan. Overall, the structuring of the concert as well as the presentation were on par with a seasoned musician. A bright musical career awaits Lavanya and she will probably get further guidance on the importance of perfect sruti alignment from her father and leading violinist Sri. T.S.Krishnamurthy and guru Dr.Sathyavathi. Accompanying her on violin was Vittala Rangan, an excellent talent worth watching and on mridangam Sri.BS Anand.
