Nadasurabhi Cultural Association located in Koramangala, Bangalore is in the forefront of promoting Classical Carnatic Music. Nadasurabhi conducts the highest quality music concerts every month and a week-long Annual Festival in November, free of charge to all rasikas. Our other events include a youth festival, Thyagaraja and Purandaradasa Aradhana, and music competitions for children.

Balu Raghuraman - Violin and Party

The monthly concert at Nadasurabhi (Bangalore) was a unique concert of violin veena violin and that of Vid.Balu Raghuraman and party (From UK). This concert was in association with Suswaralaya College of Music headed by HS Sudhindra.

 Kick start with a sublime alapanai for Sahana ragam followed by the Varnam “Karuni”. Next Aparna played a sweet short nattai ragam followed by the kriti “Sree mahaganapathe”. Beautiful kalpanaswarams alternating with violin veena violin was a wonderful scene. Then moved on to Bhairavi ragam Ahyama Sastri's swarajathi. Next was a detailed alapanai for poorvikalyani ragam. Awesome way of touching each and every swaram on the violin and veena. Kriti taken up was that of Thyagaraja swamy “Jnanamosagarada”. After this was a fast and peppy song “Sada mathim” in gambheeravani ragam. 

 The main ragam for the evening was Sankarabharanam. Excellent and elaborate raga alapanai. The kriti taken up was “Enduku peddala”. Nereval at “Veda shaastra” coupled with kalpanaswarams. starting with khanda nadai and moving to tisra nadai. The korvais were awesome by MaheshJi and NarayanamurthyJi. Thundering thani with all audience engrossed it the thani.  

Aparna took up a short alapanai for Suddha Sarang ragam. Then they played “Manave Mantralaya” kriti composed by AV Krishnamacharya. Towards the end they played Madhuvanthi thillana of Lalgudi Jayaraman. And finished the concert with Mangalam. Wonderful concert and hearing to such kind of concert for the first time.
