Nadasurabhi Cultural Association located in Koramangala, Bangalore is in the forefront of promoting Classical Carnatic Music. Nadasurabhi conducts the highest quality music concerts every month and a week-long Annual Festival in November, free of charge to all rasikas. Our other events include a youth festival, Thyagaraja and Purandaradasa Aradhana, and music competitions for children.

Nadasurabhi continues its Music Education Initiative- Announcing Course 20.


Nadasurabhi is pleased to announce its Twentieth Music course under the Education initiative to conduct high level music courses.

Details are as follows:

Course Title: Concert Pattern – From Varnam to Thillana

( The purpose is to give wholesome knowledge in the various categories of kritis and to give an insight into how a concert is to be planned )

 Dates and timing:

 January 12, 2019  Saturday -    3.30 pm -6.00 pm

January 13, 2019  Sunday - 3.30 pm -6.00 pm

January 14, 2019  Monday -   3.30 pm -6.00 pm

 List of songs that will be taught (Minimum 6 songs):

 1. Varnam: Dani saamajendra- Thodi- pada varnam

2. Ganesha Sthuthi: Ganapate --Janaranjani

3. Sub-Main :  Bhajana seyya --Dharmavathi

4. Madhyama kaalam: Narasimha maamava -- Aarabhi.

5. Main: Janani Maamava -- Bhairavi (Brief coverage of Ragam, neraval and swaram)

6. Thukkada: Saagara sayana Vibho -- Bageshri

7. Alarsara Parithaapam -- Padam (optional , if time permits)

8. Thillana -- Maand

9. Mangalam

  

Course fee per participant is Rs. 2,000 payable in cash or NEFT bank transfer in advance. Registration will be confirmed on receipt of payment. There can be no refund of fees after registration.

No. of students: 20 only on first come first served basis. (A few seats are reserved for eager music students, who are economically backward, based on the recommendation from their guru. They are exempted from payment of the course fee)

Minimum Student Qualification:  Must have learnt Carnatic music till keerthanai level. Suitable for aspiring and  performing artists.

About Guru Dr.Renganatha Sharma:

 

Dr. Shertally K.N.RENGANATHA SHARMA M.A.,M.Phil.,PhD,renowned Vocal Artiste in the field of Carnatic Music was born on 30th December 1966 to Smt Lakshmi Ammal and Sangeetha Acharya K.Narayana Iyer. From a very early age itself Sharma was exposed to the world of Carnatic music. He has been groomed under the guidance and training in the 'Guru Kula' system of his father who belongs to 'Semmangudi Tradition'

Dr.Sharma secured his graduation and post graduation in Music from Calicut University with First Rank and pursued his M.Phil Degree at Madras University(1990). He accomplished his Doctoral Degree at Madurai Kamaraj University focused on "Analytical Study on Various laya aspects in Carnatic music"(2007). 

Dr.Sharma served as Professor and later Principal at 'Sri Sathguru Sangeetha Vidhyalayam', College of music Madurai Tamilnadu, affiliated to the Madurai Kamaraj University. He recently took voluntary retirement and moved to Chennai as a full time performing artist.


Dr.Sharma is an 'A'Grade Artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan since 1992. Dr Sharma has been performing under the auspices of many leading music Sabhas in Chennai and Bangalore during the December music Festival. He has performed on several occasions in the Nadasurabhi stage as well.


With a Concert and teaching career extending over three decades, Sharma is also engaged in conducting lecture demonstrations, workshop on different aspects of Carnatic music.

Entry is free for all Nadasurabhi Programmes.

Donations to Nadasurabhi are entitled for exemption under Section 80G of I.T.Act.
